The 013 Series is a pencil-style small-diaphragm condenser microphone built around the S13 capsule, a 25mm gold-sputtered membrane designed and machined by the maker. Both versions share the same capsule and body, and the sound is described as detailed in the top end, warm in the mids and balanced in the low end. The FET model reacts to transients slightly faster, while the tube model has a smoother top end for work where a little coloration is wanted. A toroidal transformer adds colour and depth.
The capsule is switchable between cardioid, hypercardioid and omni, depending on the version supplied. The FET version runs on 48V phantom power and ships with a 10dB pad, a clip holder and a compact wooden carrying case. The tube version (6S6B tube) is sold as a stereo pair with the dedicated BP-013 power supply, which has built-in 20dB pads, two custom 4-pin cables, clip holders and an oak suitcase.
Each microphone is handmade at the maker's workshop in Tula, Russia, and measures 122mm x 25mm at 200g.
