The BRH31M is a lightweight broadcast headset with one supra-aural earcup, so the wearer can still hear audio cues from the surrounding environment. The closed-back earcup and a frequency response tuned for communication in loud settings aim at clear, intelligible speech. The headband is adjustable and has a cushioned temple pad.
The boom carries a dynamic cardioid microphone that pivots through 270 degrees, allowing wear on either the left or right side and fine positioning in front of the mouth. A replaceable ear pad and windscreen are supplied, and replacement pads and windscreens are offered as separate accessories.
The headset has a single-sided, fixed Kevlar-reinforced cable ending in unterminated bare wires, which lets it be wired to a range of devices. Versions with different cable terminations exist, including 4-pin XLR and 5-pin XLR connector options.
