The GP-6 is a mid-level digital grand in a baby grand cabinet. Its Piano Reality Premium sound engine models the elements of an acoustic piano with unlimited polyphony for piano tones, and the 88-key hybrid wood/molded keyboard has escapement, Ivory Feel surfaces and accelerated key sensing. Three pedals (damper, soft, sostenuto) offer continuous detection on damper and soft, with damper modeling.
Sound comes from five speakers with separate amplification, plus a lid that opens to project the sound. Piano Designer settings allow adjustment of items such as string tuning, duplex scale, and cabinet resonance, and ten temperaments are available. Practice tools include a metronome with 80 rhythm patterns, a recorder, Twin Piano mode, 394 internal songs and two headphone jacks.
For connections, the piano has Bluetooth 4.2 for audio streaming and MIDI over Bluetooth LE, USB ports for a computer and flash drives, line input, and 1/4-inch outputs. The Roland Piano App provides remote control, scores and lessons from a phone or tablet. Finishes are ebony and polished white.
