The Space Heater is an eight-channel unit with a 12AX7 vacuum tube stage on each channel. It can be used in two ways: as an analog summing mixer that combines stems or channels into a stereo output, or as a multi-channel effects device where each channel is sent through its own tube circuit. Level and Drive controls set the amount of saturation, from light warmth to heavy harmonic distortion.
A Heat switch changes the voltage applied to each tube, which alters how hard the tube is driven. Each channel has its own output, so the unit can serve as an eight-channel effects insert on a recording setup. The outputs are transformer-coupled for a vintage character.
Typical uses include adding grit to eight individual tracks, summing stereo stem mixes to a master stereo output, linking several units for larger summing setups, softening the sound of in-ear monitor feeds with tube compression, and driving the tubes hard on drums at the 25-volt setting. The product is discontinued and no longer shipping.
