The QB1 XBD-A is a twin-cabinet active main monitor. A full-range master cabinet is stacked with an additional XBD cabinet that adds four more piston drivers, so each channel uses eight 250mm (10") carbon fibre/Nomex bass drivers, a 75mm soft dome midrange and a 34mm soft dome tweeter with acoustic radiator. Bass loading is by PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL), with an effective length of 2 x 2.7m. The crossover points are 380Hz and 3.8kHz.
Each channel is driven by PMC's independent class D amplifiers: 2 x 2400Wrms for the LF section, 2 x 2400Wrms for the LFX (XBD) section, 550Wrms for the mid and 275Wrms for the high frequencies. The stacked layout is stated to give 3dB more headroom than the single-cabinet QB1-A. Peak SPL is above 132dB at one metre.
Input is via a balanced analogue connection or AES3 digital (up to 96kHz, 24-bit). A wired RJ45 desktop controller with a backlit display and jog wheel gives access to user EQ settings and stores up to four user presets. A 20 year warranty applies when the product is registered within 10 days of purchase.
