KM 120
The KM 120 is a miniature small-diaphragm condenser microphone with a side-fire figure-8 pattern, made from the KM 100 output stage and the AK 20 capsule. It suits engineers who want a compact, modular figure-8 mic, for example for MS stereo work.

The KM 120 belongs to the KM 100 series, Neumann's first modular small-diaphragm microphone system. It pairs the KM 100 output stage with the AK 20 active capsule, a single-diaphragm pressure-gradient transducer with a 16 mm diaphragm and a figure-8 pattern. Response and output level are identical at 0° and 180° sound incidence.
The capsule and output stage can be unscrewed from each other. The capsule can be fitted to cables, extensions, swivel mounts, table stands, goose-necks, stereo mounts and hangers, and it can sit up to 50 m from the output stage on a 3 mm cable. Combined with another active capsule through the matching accessories, the AK 20 allows an MS stereo setup.
The output stage runs on 48 V phantom power with transformerless circuitry and a balanced output on a 3-pin XLR connector. A switchable 10 dB preattenuation raises the maximum SPL from 140 dB to 150 dB.
