The C 165BEE is a stereo preamplifier that handles line-level sources and turntables. Its phono stage accepts both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, with selectable loading: 40, 100 or 600 Ohm and 1 nF for MC, and 47 kilohm with 220, 300 or 400 pF for MM. An infrasonic filter at 10 Hz (-3 dB) is included, and RIAA accuracy is stated as ±0.5 dB.
On the output side there is a pre-out, a tape out, a subwoofer output with a 100 Hz (-3 dB) response and a headphone output. Treble and bass controls give ±5 dB at 10 kHz and 100 Hz respectively, and a tone defeat setting is referenced for the flat frequency response figure of ±0.1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
