The № 534 is a dual-monaural stereo power amplifier built around a discrete, direct-coupled, fully differential signal path. It is rated at 250 W per channel into 8 ohms and 500 W into 4 ohms, stays stable into 2-ohm loads, and uses very little negative feedback. The output stage works in class A for most listening conditions and moves to class A/B at higher volumes.
Power comes from a shielded, encapsulated toroidal transformer. The gain stage uses a folded cascode arrangement of JFET and bipolar transistors, with tantalum nitride thin-film resistors and film capacitors in critical positions. The chassis is made of 6063-T5 extruded aluminum. The amplifier is designed and handcrafted in the USA.
Inputs are one balanced pair and one single-ended pair, so it works with most preamplifiers or sources with variable output. Speakers connect to four pairs of gold-plated Hurricane binding posts that accept standard or bi-wired cabling. Ethernet/IP, RS-232, USB and 12 V trigger in and out allow integration into control systems and web-based monitoring and configuration.
