The HERO11 Black Mini is a reduced-size, lighter version of the HERO11 Black. It has an embedded battery and a tough outer shell, and it is waterproof to 10 m (33 ft) without a separate housing. Two sets of folding mounting fingers, one on the bottom and one on the back, allow a low-profile mount on a helmet or body. The camera records video only, so single photos are not available. Still images are taken as frame grabs from video, up to 24.69 MP from 8:7 5.3K footage.
Video runs up to 5.3K at 60 fps in 16:9, with 4K at up to 120 fps and 2.7K at up to 240 fps for slow motion. The large 1/1.9" sensor supports 8:7, 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, and 10-bit HEVC is available in selected modes. HyperSmooth 5.0 stabilisation includes AutoBoost and a built-in Horizon Lock. The camera is built around one-button operation, and video settings can be changed afterwards in the Quik app.
Connection is through a USB-C port behind a side door, next to the microSD slot. A microSD card (V30 or UHS-3) is required and is not supplied. While it charges, the camera can upload footage to the cloud and produce highlight videos, which needs a GoPro subscription and a home Wi-Fi network. It works with more than 40 mounts, mods and accessories, including the Max Lens Mod.
