The unit combines eight mic preamps with 24-bit AD/DA conversion and passes audio over ADAT optical. Each preamp offers up to 57 dB of gain and can switch in an Air mode that imitates the input impedance and frequency response of the maker's ISA mic preamp. Converters work at sample rates from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz.
Two instrument inputs sit on the front panel with extra headroom, while the rear panel carries combo XLR/jack connectors that switch automatically between mic and line level. Every channel has a switched insert point with a relay bypass, so outboard compressors, equalisers or a patchbay can stay connected and be engaged with a button press.
On the output side, up to eight ADAT channels feed balanced analogue outputs on a 25-pin D-sub connector, which makes the unit useful for mixing as well as tracking. The line outputs can optionally carry a feed from the mic preamps, for example to send signal to a live console while the digital outputs are being recorded. A power supply is included, along with a software bundle.
