The Hum Debugger is a footswitchable pedal that removes hum from a mono audio signal. It uses a digital circuit and is meant to work with any pickup type and at any playing volume. It is positioned as a hum extractor rather than a noise gate or noise suppressor.
A two-position Normal/Strong toggle sets how much hum is removed. The footswitch switches between the active effect and true bypass, so the signal passes untouched when the pedal is off. The housing is a compact die-cast chassis.
The instrument plugs into the Input jack, and the Amp jack goes to an amplifier or the rest of the effects chain, so it sits in the signal path like any other effects pedal. It runs from the supplied 7.5VAC 400mA power adapter and first appeared in 2007.
