The Action PJ is a 34-inch scale electric bass built on a bolt-on construction. It has a poplar body with an ergonomic shape that is specific to the Action Series and is intended to reduce fatigue during long playing sessions. The neck is hard maple with a jatoba fingerboard carrying 24 frets and white dot inlays.

A Powersound PJ-style pickup set pairs a P-type pickup, suited to hard and classic rock, with a J-type pickup, suited to jazz and pop. Controls are two volume knobs and one tone control. Die-cast machineheads are fitted for tuning stability, and the bridge is Cort's EB6 with chrome hardware throughout.

The open pore finish leaves the wood grain visible and is described as helping the instrument's acoustic resonance. It is offered in Open Pore Black (OPBK) and Open Pore Walnut (OPW). The bass is a passive instrument with no output or connectivity details beyond its pickup and control layout.
