The BT100 is a Bluetooth audio receiver that plugs into a supported Cambridge Audio product and lets it play music from an iPhone, smartphone, iPad, tablet, laptop or any other Bluetooth-capable device. It turns the source device into a wireless component of an existing hi-fi or entertainment system.
It handles the aptX codec as well as standard Bluetooth SBC. When the source device also supports aptX, the audio is sent at a fixed quality level and is described as close to CD quality, whereas SBC performance varies from device to device. aptX is found on a growing number of mobile devices as well as MacBooks and Apple desktop computers.
The receiver is intended only for use with certain Cambridge Audio models: 851D, 851N, CXA60, CXA80, CXN V1, CXN V2, CXN V2 Series 2, CXR120, CXR200, DacMagic Plus, Minx Xi, NP30 and Stream Magic 6 V2. It is offered in black. One buyer review notes that it uses an earlier Bluetooth version, so sound quality is below that of a wired USB connection.
