The Pulse Mini Gen 1 is a compact powered speaker that streams music over Wi-Fi or Ethernet and plays it through two 4-inch woofers and two 3/4-inch tweeters. A dual-acoustic chamber with DSP equalization is used to extend bass and keep the sound clear from a small enclosure. It plays a wide range of formats, including hi-res files up to 24-bit and 192 kHz, and is controlled with the BluOS app on iOS and Android, by touch controls on top of the unit, or with the optional RC1 remote.
It runs BluOS, so several Bluesound players can play the same music in sync or different music in separate rooms. Streaming works through AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon Ready, and Alexa voice control is available through the BluOS skill. Bluetooth is two-way with aptX HD support.
On the back there is a combined Toslink/3.5 mm audio input, a 3.5 mm headphone output, Gigabit Ethernet and a USB-A port for memory sticks. Control-system integrations include Control4, Crestron, URC, RTI, ELAN, Lutron and Josh.ai. The speaker was offered in black or white matte finishes.
