The PMP500MP3 combines an 8-channel mixer with a 500-watt stereo power amplifier in a unit weighing about 3 kg. Channels 1–4 carry XENYX mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power, and every input channel has a two-band EQ (bass and treble). A Music/Speech switch selects a suitable EQ curve, and a defeatable Voice-Over-Priority function lowers the stereo channels automatically when someone speaks into the mic.
A digital reverb processor adds ambience to vocals and instruments. The onboard MP3 player plays files from a USB stick and is operated with a four-button pad (Random, Play/Pause, Rewind, Forward), which suits background music, break music and karaoke tracks.
Channels 1–4 accept balanced XLR microphones and balanced or unbalanced 1/4" line sources. Channels 1 and 2 also control an optional ULTRALINK ULM wireless microphone system, which is sold separately and connects through a receiver dongle using the licence-free 2.4 GHz band. Stereo channels 5/6 and 7/8 take RCA and 1/4" sources such as drum machines and keyboard modules. A mic stand adapter is supplied.
