The AK320 is a portable music player built around two AKM AK4490 DAC chips. It decodes PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz bit-to-bit. 32-bit material is sample-rate converted down, and DSD64/128 files are converted to 24-bit/176kHz PCM for playback. It has 128GB of built-in memory plus a microSD slot (up to 256GB), and plays common formats including WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, DSF, DFF, MP3, AAC and OGG.
Sound-shaping tools include a 20-band parametric EQ with 0.01dB steps, handled by a dedicated audio DSP, and a 200 femtosecond VCXO reference clock. The PEQ works with 8kHz–192kHz content at 8/16/24-bit, but not with DSD or 32-bit audio. A pressure-sensitive metal touch home button sits below the 4-inch WVGA screen, and the AK Connect app (phone and tablet versions) is available for iOS and Android.
Outputs are a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 2.5mm 4-pole balanced output and a 3.5mm optical output. A micro-USB port handles charging and data transfer, and also lets the player act as a USB DAC for a PC or Mac, limited to 24-bit/96kHz without PEQ. The balanced port and micro-USB connect to the maker's AMP, Cradle and CD-RIPPER accessories. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and OTA firmware updates are supported.
