The PT-7 combines three practice tools in a compact, lightweight body. The tuner is a high-speed chromatic type with calibration and an oscillator out function, and it offers eight musical scales, from 12-note equal temperament to historical temperaments such as Pythagorean, Werckmeister III and Vallotti. The on-screen display is suited to pitch training for students.
The metronome covers 30 to 300 bpm with six time-signature settings, and its click can be heard through the internal speaker or a headphone output. The memo recorder uses the built-in microphone to capture practice sessions or song ideas, with up to 20 minutes of recording. Playback can be looped and slowed down without changing the pitch.
The unit has a custom backlit LCD and a flip stand on the rear panel. It runs on one AA battery or on the optional PS-P520 adapter, with roughly 10 hours of battery life without the backlight and 4 hours with it.
