The Beta 56A is a dynamic microphone with a frequency response tailored for drums and instruments. Its supercardioid pickup pattern is uniform and is intended to give high gain before feedback and good rejection of off-axis sound, which helps when several sources are close together on a stage.
The body has a built-in stand adapter with a dynamic locking system that holds the capsule in place even if a drumstick strikes it. A pneumatic shock mount reduces mechanical noise and vibration, and a hardened steel mesh grille is built to resist wear. A neodymium magnet gives a high signal-to-noise ratio, and the output is little affected by changes in load impedance.
Connection is through an integral XLR connector. Typical uses include close miking of tom-toms and other percussion, guitar amplifiers, brass instruments and woodwinds. A 5/8 inch to 3/8 inch (Euro) thread adapter and a storage bag are included.
