The RP701 is a cabinet-style digital piano built around a SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine with 256-voice polyphony and 324 tones. The 88-key PHA-4 Standard keyboard has escapement and ivory-feel white keys, and the Progressive Damper Action pedal detects half-pedalling. The Piano Designer settings cover lid, string, damper and key-off resonance, plus single-note tuning, volume and character.
The front panel uses a graphic OLED display with simple icons, and a sliding key cover hides the controls when they are not needed. Two 12 W speakers fill a room, and Headphones 3D Ambience adds a spatial effect when practising on headphones. Built-in content includes 377 songs, a metronome, a three-part MIDI recorder, Dual, Split and TwinPiano modes, and ten selectable temperaments.
Bluetooth audio streams music from a phone or tablet through the speakers or headphones. Bluetooth MIDI works with the Piano Every Day and Piano Designer apps and with teaching platforms such as Skoove. A USB computer port and a USB memory port are also fitted. The cabinet comes in dark rosewood, light oak, white or black, and a height-adjustable bench is included in some regions.
