Space Heater 500

The Space Heater 500 is a tube saturation module in the 500 series format. It uses a 12AX7 tube to generate harmonic distortion, and the range runs from subtle warmth to dense, heavy overdrive. A Heat switch changes the voltage applied to the tube, which alters how the distortion behaves.

Variable high-cut and low-cut filters let the user decide which part of the spectrum is distorted. The output is transformer coupled, which gives the signal a vintage character.

Typical uses include adding amp-like grit to a direct bass recording, placing it in line with a mic preamp to capture harmonic distortion while tracking, and distorting the output of a digital delay or reverb to approximate vintage analog effects. The module fits into a 500 series rack alongside other channel strip modules.
