The 5050 is the largest floorstander in the 5000 series. Each cabinet carries two 150 mm mid/bass drivers using the C3 Continuous Curved Cone profile, which is intended to blend smoothly with the 25 mm tweeter and give controlled bass. The drivers use large magnets and voice coils for higher power handling.
The tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the baffle, so pressure inside the cabinet and vibration from the mid/bass drivers do not reach it. Inside, Point-2-Point bracing stiffens the enclosure, and Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser tubes reduce internal pressure and standing waves in these tall cabinets. The baffle is laminated with butyl rubber and black acrylic trim, with no visible fixings.
Connection is by speaker cable to an amplifier rated for 25-150 W. The pair is supplied with magnetically fixed grilles, spike feet and rear stabilisers, and comes in satin black, satin white, holm oak and Santos rosewood finishes.
