The MC X50 is the highest-ranked cartridge in the MC X Series. It pairs a nude Micro Ridge diamond stylus, which has a very narrow side radius, with a boron cantilever. This combination is intended to improve high-frequency tracking, lower inner-groove distortion, and give a quick transient response with low distortion.
Inside, the coils are wound with high-purity silver wire and work with a newly developed magnet system that has a one-piece pole cylinder built into a rear magnet yoke. The damping uses rubber compounds developed and produced in-house, and the X50 gets a new rubber suspension with a newly formulated compound made specifically for it. The body is MIM stainless steel with a honeycomb core structure, finished in black.
The cartridge uses a half-inch mount and weighs 8.6 g. Recommended tracking force is 2.0 g, and output voltage is 0.4 mV at 1 kHz, so it needs a phono stage with moving-coil input.
