The 1974X Handwired Combo is a valve-driven, hand-soldered combo built on an aluminium chassis. It reproduces the layout of the original 1974 design and uses two EL84 power valves with ECC83 preamp and phase-splitter valves. Output power is 18W into a single 12-inch Celestion Heritage G12M-20 Greenback, which has been aged to give a worn-in vintage character.
The amp has two voices that can be blended. Channel 1 has volume, tone, tremolo intensity and tremolo speed controls, while channel 2 has volume and tone. The tremolo is an analogue, valve-based circuit. There are four instrument inputs with high and low sensitivity, and no effects loop.
Two speaker outputs on 1/4" jacks allow a 16Ω, 8Ω or 4Ω load to be selected, so the amp can drive an extension cabinet. It is designed, engineered and made in the UK, handwired at the Bletchley factory, and comes with a detachable power cable.
