MC 930

The MC 930 is a small-diaphragm true condenser microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern that is almost independent of frequency. Its handmade capsule uses a gold-vapourised diaphragm, which gives fast transient response for percussive sources. The pattern favours sound from the front and attenuates sound from the rear, which limits crosstalk from nearby sources.

A switchable 15 dB attenuation pad lets it handle loud instruments, and a switchable low-cut filter (6 dB/octave at 250 Hz) reduces impact noise and proximity-effect bass. The high output of 30 mV/Pa means little gain is needed from an interface or mixing console. Suggested sources include acoustic guitar, piano, hi-hat, overheads, choirs, orchestras and vocals.

The microphone has a solid metal housing with a sintered disc in the head and connects through a 3-pin XLR output on 11-52 V phantom power. Each unit is measured individually and ships with a printout of its measurement curve and a hard case. A matched stereo set is offered for XY or ORTF recording.
